Invitation to ISSE 2017

   The Jubilee 40th International Spring Seminar on Electronics Technology is the premier European forum for the exchange of information between senior and young scientists from academic communities and electronic industries from around the world on topics related to their experimental and theoretical work in the very wide-spread field of electronics and micro/nanoelectronics technology and electronic packaging. The theme of upcoming conference is “High-Tech electronics for a better tomorrow - theoretical and practical aspects”. This is the 4th time the ISSE Conference will be held in Bulgaria.

   In the frame of a unique combination of poster exhibitions, oral paper presentations, and individual meetings senior and junior researchers from all over the world can come together to discuss scientific problems and their teaching experiences as well as plan and organize international cooperation and student exchanges in a convenient and multicultural atmosphere

   You are invited to participate in this great occasion for sharing ideas, friendship and culture in the context of traditional Bulgarian hospitality. The 40th ISSE will be organised by the Department of Microelectronics, Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Technologies, Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria. The host city of ISSE 2017, Sofia, is a beautiful town with a long tradition of history and culture.

As a special feature of our ISSE conference all poster papers are also introduced to the entire audience. This has the twofold objectives: This means, firstly, that all presenters have at least once during the conference the opportunity to present their work to the entire audience and, secondly, that an excellent overview of all presentations is provided to the audience. For this purpose all poster presenters are also invited to prepare an overview presentation of their work with a maximum duration of three minutes with the goal to advertise with this presentation for discussions about more details at their poster. Recommended content of the short presentation is no more than 3 slides. For organizational reasons the chair persons will be asked to strictly keep the time schedule. The short talks will be presented in the Conference Hall, then the session will continue by discussion next to the poster board.

Guide for Presenters: Maximum size: A0, minimum size: A1. Please prepare your posters in the poster room on the first day (10th of May, Wednesday) after the welcome party. For the location of the poster session refer to the program book and conference information. The posters should stay on the poster boards until Saturday, and they must be taken off before Saturday 15:30. Tools for fixing of posters will be supported by the organizers to stick the posters onto the poster boards.

Poster presentation hints: Short PowerPoint presentation of the paper and the related poster is necessary, where the maximum available time is 3 minutes, otherwise the presentation will be cut off by the chair. Recommended content of the short presentation is no more than 3 slides, otherwise it will be impossible to fit into the time limitations. The short talks will be presented in the Conference Hall, then the session will continue by discussion next to the poster board.

Poster presentation recommendation: The first slide is the opening slide, with name, title, affiliation, poster number. The second slide is recommended to be a short description of the problem and the experimental methodology, then the third may present the main results in short form. The purpose of the short presentation is to convince the audience to come to the poster for further interest, discussion and information exchange.


Oral presentation hints: Oral presentations cannot exceed 15 minutes (including 3 minutes for Q&A). The chair person will check the time of your presentation. Please be advised that presentations exceeding the limit will be cut off by the chair in the interest of time. Please try to summarize your results in 10-15 slides.


Copying presentations: Presenters do not have to bring their own computer. There will be a Windows based laptop computer that will be available in the session room. Your presentations (preferring presentation prepared in Microsoft PowerPoint) will be accepted in USB Flash drive form. Computers will be provided to upload presentations and test them in the meeting room before particular section starts. There will also be a technician to help with any technical issues.

Hotel facilities: All the rooms are equipped with bathroom, lavatory, TV - SAT, phone with direct line out, mini - bar, safe and free WI-FI in whole hotel area. The Hotel also offers free parking. Hotel guests can use swimming pool or fitness club free of charge. Wellness center, sport activities, extra parking facilities, minibar, lounge bar are optional and are not included in the conference price. The hotel will charge the extra costs, and all charges must be paid during the checkout personally by cash or by credit card.

From Sofia International Airport, Terminal 2
From the Terminal 2, the M2 subway line goes to “Musagenitsa” station. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance of the subway station for 1.60 BGN. From “Musagenitsa” subway station it is a 15 min walk to VITOSHA Park Hotel.

By Car
- From the Serbian border, Route E80 – Around 70 minutes to VITOSHA Park Hotel
- From the Romanian border, Vidin-Calafat (Danube Bridge 2), Route E79, Highway A2 – Around 3.5 hours to VITOSHA Park Hotel
- From the Romanian border, Ruse-Giurgiu (Danube Bridge 1), Route E85, Route E83, Highway A2 – Around 4 hours to VITOSHA Park Hotel
- A vignette must be purchased – 15.00 BGN for 7 days

Bulgarian lev (BGN) is the official currency of Bulgaria. Payments in Bulgaria are only in BGN. Exchange of major currencies in Bulgarian lev can be performed in all Bulgarian banks and in the exchange offices. Major international credit cards can be used in the country. There are ATMs. Credit cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and large stores. Payment by credit card includes a transfer to the Bulgarian lev.
